Lesson 12 Information Technology in Support of Student-Centered Learning

C
- Student-centered learning is what a teacher should employ in teaching. In this lesson, we've seen how the teacher can expand his/her options to make him/herself more effective and relevant in the 21st millennium information age. This lesson also deals on how a student-centered classroom can be supported by information technology by spotting the difference of the traditional classroom and the student-centered classroom. By this, teachers/learners can see that technology integration in a classroom is so much needed since teachers must cater the needs of his/her students.
E
- In the traditional classroom we were just exposed on the teachers’ visual aids and it is highly teacher-centered. In this generation, what have we observed? Students are very different from each other, and by this teachers are switching from the idea of a teacher-centered classroom into a student-centered classroom. Technology is a trend and therefore students must be exposed to it. Therefore, teachers must not only teach his/her lesson with purely discussion or lecture but as well as integrating technology. Don't ever forget that students are very attractive to a colorful and graphical teaching aids.
R
- As a future teacher, I must be very sensitive to what my students need. Student-centered learning is a trend today as well as how technology trends. My students must perform hands-on activity with the computers especially that they are easily attracted to these things.
A
- Traditional learning will really have its own space in the classroom and the technology as well. Instead of focusing on one side I must really use these teaching approach appropriately. I cannot isolate my students on the traditional way of learning and I also don't want my students to be just distracted by the computer's other features. Thus, students can therefore use the computers whenever needed and not on the times that they will use it as a play.
