Lesson 18 Tablets for Textbooks in Schools

- Traditional learning uses textbooks as a primary source of information. With regards to this newly set of learners, technology will also have a role. Tablets are just one of the newest technology that some people can afford. Did you know that as a gadget it can also be a replacement for those bulky textbooks? And can also be a replacement for a heavy laptop? This lesson helps us understand the benefits that we can get by using a tablet over a book and tablet over a laptop.

- Practically speaking, textbooks especially in private schools cost a lot. In contrary, tablets can cost much cheaper than buying books for a whole school years. However, in public schools, government cannot afford to have this tablets to be the primary learning tool in the school. There are advantages as well as disadvantages in having this tablets. Although using textbooks has its own disadvantages also. However, we can't deny the fact that it is very preferable to use textbooks since we can put directly our own notes on its margins.

- Using tablets could be a very trending thing since technology is seen as a savior in learning. Tablets could be handy, could be affordable but as much as we can see there is nothing more reliable than a book. As what the research of the reporters had presented, more than half of the students prefer to use textbooks over tablets instead of tablets over textbooks.

- As a future teacher it is very important to think before doing something. If someday the government and schools can afford tablets then we must accept it since it is also important to adapt in the changing nature of learning. But, we must also keep in touch with textbooks because these textbooks are very authentic and reliable plus the information’s are very clear and there is one clear source. In the future, as much as possible we must tell our students how important textbooks and tablets are so students could utilize both in a proper way.
