Lesson 10 Computer as a Tutor

C
-  In this particular lesson, I have learned that not all tutors can be a human, but a tutor can be a thing and that is computer. We are now in the modern times whereby the use of computer is rapidly arises. In just one click, there will be lots of information provided. The Computer is a tutor in this new age of learning. It does not replace the teacher, although it assumes certain roles previously assigned to teachers who now has to take the new role of facilitator and guide. Computer-Assisted Instruction (CAI) The computer can be a tutor in effect relieving the teacher of many activities in his personal role as a classroom tutor.

E
- Nothing can replace the role of the teacher in a classroom. Computers will just be seen as aids and not teachers themselves. One of the most important thing that we should understand is that, computers are technology tool as well as teachers' tool in the classroom. Teachers can enhance the quality of teaching with the use of computers and new technologies. Computers have bulit-in softwares and that teachers could utilize it for educational purposes.

R
-  There has been a fear that someday in the future teachers will be replaced with CAI because as an assessment, it is much better if we will used the computer to assist as in our learning for it is consistent and objective. Yes, it is partly true and also partly wrong because we all know that there are roles that teachers have to do that CAI cannot. A computer cannot assess and insure if the students have the needed knowledge and skills for it does not have any will and intellect, a teacher can decide the appropriate learning objectives while computers do not, a teachers can plan any structured activities to achieve objectives suited to the needs of its students and a teacher can evaluate the student’s achievements by ways of tests of the expected outcomes. Drill and practice software materials can be useful if we want excellence in the use of the computer. But to make it a teacher, it can’t never be. Teachers are still the best and suited way for a student to learn more, computers can only assist.

A
-   In the years ahead, we shall see the computer in schools as a common tool for the enhancement of the student’s thinking, communication and collaboration skills. Computers will become an integral component of the future classroom and not a mere machine that can deliver routine drills and exercise. But, one thing is the most important of all. We must remember that teachers will always be teachers and nothing can replace them.

Lesson 11 The Computer as the Teacher's Tool

C
-In this lesson, computer was again been tackled since this course is about technology. Computer is viewed as a teacher's tool in this lesson. In fact, it supports the constructivist and social constructivist paradigms of constructivist learning. While knowledge is constructed by the individual learner in constructivism, knowledge can also be socially constructed. This lesson is dealing on how the computer can aid or can help social constructivism. It was also included in this lesson that there are capabilities of a computer. It was said that without the computer, today's learners may still be assuming the tedious tasks of low-level information gathering, building and new knowledge packaging. Computer, as a tool can be informative, communicative, constructive, co-constructive and situating tool for teachers.
E
- Computers are eye-catchers of today’s generation. Instead of seeing it as a distraction of learning we also must see how teachers and students benefit from this tool. These computers are of big help to me. It provides information such as graphics, texts, sound etc. which helps me in my assignments and researches. It also help me visualize my understandings by making ppt presentations, etc. Certainly, these computers are tools not only to the teacher but the students as well because it can enhance and enrich their personal understandings also.
R
- We regarded computers as a hindrance of learning in some ways but now I see it as a very great help to me as a future educator. I'm using it now as a student and how much more when I'll be teaching? This, on a deeper sense will really help me in becoming a better teacher to my students.
A
- Teachers must use computers not for self-interest and desires but they should use it in a proper way. There are many uses of computers and we must appreciate it. Teachers in the next generations will not depend solely on the traditional teaching resources but they will also depend on the computers. Teachers must only remember one thing and that is not to be enslaved by the computers.

Lesson 12 Information Technology in Support of Student-Centered Learning

C
- Student-centered learning is what a teacher should employ in teaching. In this lesson, we've seen how the teacher can expand his/her options to make him/herself more effective and relevant in the 21st millennium information age. This lesson also deals on how a student-centered classroom can be supported by information technology by spotting the difference of the traditional classroom and the student-centered classroom. By this, teachers/learners can see that technology integration in a classroom is so much needed since teachers must cater the needs of his/her students.
E
- In the traditional classroom we were just exposed on the teachers’ visual aids and it is highly teacher-centered. In this generation, what have we observed? Students are very different from each other, and by this teachers are switching from the idea of a teacher-centered classroom into a student-centered classroom. Technology is a trend and therefore students must be exposed to it. Therefore, teachers must not only teach his/her lesson with purely discussion or lecture but as well as integrating technology. Don't ever forget that students are very attractive to a colorful and graphical teaching aids.
R
- As a future teacher, I must be very sensitive to what my students need. Student-centered learning is a trend today as well as how technology trends. My students must perform hands-on activity with the computers especially that they are easily attracted to these things.
A
- Traditional learning will really have its own space in the classroom and the technology as well. Instead of focusing on one side I must really use these teaching approach appropriately. I cannot isolate my students on the traditional way of learning and I also don't want my students to be just distracted by the computer's other features. Thus, students can therefore use the computers whenever needed and not on the times that they will use it as a play.

Lesson 13 Cooperative Learning with the Computer

C
- In the previous lesson, student-centered classroom was emphasized. In connection, this lesson deals with cooperative learning. Cooperative or collaborative learning is learning by small groups of students who work together in a common learning task. By this, there are five elements needed. These are: a common goal, interdependence Interaction, individual accountability and social skills. Cooperative learning really enhances personal and social development among students of all ages. Going back to the computer, researchers have made studies on the learning interaction between the student and the computer. It has been said that computer may foster student learning in isolation that hinders the development of the student's social skills.
E
- I have experience doing a computer work with a partner. We have a common goal, and that is to make a ppt presentation for our report. By that, I can see evidently that there is really a cooperative learning among students when working with a computer. Same also when we do this to our students. Actually, there are a lot we can get out of working with a computer. If we want our students to be collaborative and cooperative we might as well let them have computer works.
R
- Cooperative and collaborative learning can foster skills and attitudes certainly on the society. School, as a home and teachers as parents should really impart something to their students. Letting the students work together would be as well healthy in learning something. As what a quote says "more heads are better than one" and so teachers will just become facilitators in the classroom and let the students do hands-on learning or the so-called experiential learning.
A
- To have a healthy learning environment the teacher must let his/her students be in groups or in pairs. Learning is very broad, learning couldn't be achieve in a snap and it is very better to have a cooperative relationships between students of the same classrooms. So teachers! This is a very big challenge to let our students explore and experience hands-on learning with the use of computers.

Lesson 14 The Software as an Educational Resource

C
- Hardwares are essentials to computer and are built-ins in the computer. However, as discussed in this lesson, that hardware can be hardly useful without the program or system that tells what the computer machine should do, this is called software. Software might be less appreciated in the traditional classroom but in this new-paced setting we can see how it boost learning. Software as an educational software is a big help not only to the teachers but as well to the students. By using these educational softwares, both students and teachers can explore the world of technology that somehow regarded as a distractor sometimes but sometimes also known to be an aid in learning. I could not forget how our instructor say these words, "the best instructional software is self-made/ personalized."
E
- There were certain applications/softwares that are games. These games might be as well enhance learning. Applications like text twists, brain games and others are very useful aids in becoming responsible students. We enjoy as well as we also learn.
R
- Instructional softwares are big help to us. I can reflect on how I might be working on my personalize IS someday. Teachers must also know how to choose appropriate instructional softwares in their subject and not just because they e
were fascinated by it. In fact, I can visualize how my teaching career be interactive and colorful when I use these instructional softwares.
A
- We are the ones responsible for our actions, therefore what we do is very familiar to us. In connection, we must create our own instructional software that is appropriate for our students and for the lesson we will be teachings. We must ensure in ourselves that we are a source of students’ knowledge, what we teach is what they will remember. Therefore, we really must consider how our instructional software could affect their learning.

Lesson 15 Understanding Hypermedia

C
- This lesson is just a review of what was introduced by Educational Technology 1 about hypermedia. The presentation information-learning activities in hypermedia is said to be sequenced in a non-linear manner, meaning that the learner may follow his path of activities thus providing an environment of learner autonomy and thinking skills. This lesson also deala with the characteristics of hypermedia applications like learner control where the learner makes his own decisions on the path, flow or events of instruction. Next could be that the learner could have a wide range of navigation routes and last is a variety of media.

E
- By using this hypermedia teachers can get the learners attention. It can also recall prior learning, can inform students of the lesson objectives, and can introduce the software and its distinctive features. It can also guide learning, provide learning feedback, assess performance and enhance retention and learning transfer. These said things were experienced by me since my teachers are letting us do powerpoint presentations and other things using hypermedia.

R
- Just imagine how lively your students and classroom when hypermedia is used. This means that as technology continues to grow, teachers should also move from traditional way of teaching to a variety of teaching strategies that could also enhance student’s way of learning and thinking.

A
- Learning is not all about pencil and paper thing, it must also be integrated with technology. I have learned many things and that I will really apply these learnings when I become a teacher. It is not easy though to get in touch with the technicalities of using computer but teachers, as a part of their profession must deal with the things that their students are highly needing.

Lesson 16 The Internet and Education

C
- Internet and Education are being engaged today. Why? Because students nowadays can easily get information from the internet. This lesson includes the introduction to internet, how is it used and a view of educational uses of the internet. Unsurprisingly, when we get an access to internet we can easily get information from different sources. Today, schools are gearing up to take advantage of internet access. Educators are finally been realizing of how much internet can help develop quality of learning. By internet we can go to other places, know their geography, can have a virtual reading partner and many other more!

E
- Imagine how we can communicate to our families living in other countries without internet. Imagine how we would know the climate when we don't have technology. Internet access helped me a lot. The assignments, requirements, sources that the teacher will let us do, depends usually on the internet. Without internet I might not be able to post this blog, without it I might not know what trends today or what the current issues are, I might not be able to communicate with my friends also, and I might not be as well get reliable sources for my reports.

R
- In a proper way of using internet we can help our students improve their works, get information, play an educational game where they will enjoy and at the same time learn. Truly, internet could suffice our needs in information. In the future teaching career it is important to understand the capabilities and special use of internet. We are using internet today, how much more in the future? It is just a matter of deciding whether we become slaves of internet or controlling our usage in it.

A
- I begin with a negative notion to internet, that it can just distract people from learning but as the time passes I have realized that it could really help teachers and students, we just have to limit and control ourselves in using it. An internet a day makes teaching and learning healthy!

Lesson 17 Educational Technology 2 Practicum

C

- In this lesson we were taught on how to use excel specifically on computing grades easily. Educational 2 practicum in our class directly demonstrates on how to use excel that we will be applying in computing grades someday. The practicum was been demonstrated and several videos on how to use the technicalities were also shown to us.

E

- Excel as a software an application can be of a great help to us teachers since we are catering and computing grades of massive number of students. Burdens in computing manually are time consuming and requires effort but with the help of excel and other educational software we can compute grades easily.

R

- Computers and softwares are just so amazing. Learning and practicing them is also a big help and a big challenge. Teachers nowadays are completely using this software since it is very easy to use and it can ease burden. I can just reflect on how technology can really help teachers and students.

A

- Computing grades is never easy but as I learned that there is an easy way to it then I will apply what I have learned in this lesson and I will continue exploring the good things that instructional soft wares provide.

Lesson 18 Tablets for Textbooks in Schools

C
- Traditional learning uses textbooks as a primary source of information. With regards to this newly set of learners, technology will also have a role. Tablets are just one of the newest technology that some people can afford. Did you know that as a gadget it can also be a replacement for those bulky textbooks? And can also be a replacement for a heavy laptop? This lesson helps us understand the benefits that we can get by using a tablet over a book and tablet over a laptop.
E
- Practically speaking, textbooks especially in private schools cost a lot. In contrary, tablets can cost much cheaper than buying books for a whole school years. However, in public schools, government cannot afford to have this tablets to be the primary learning tool in the school. There are advantages as well as disadvantages in having this tablets. Although using textbooks has its own disadvantages also. However, we can't deny the fact that it is very preferable to use textbooks since we can put directly our own notes on its margins.
R
- Using tablets could be a very trending thing since technology is seen as a savior in learning. Tablets could be handy, could be affordable but as much as we can see there is nothing more reliable than a book. As what the research of the reporters had presented, more than half of the students prefer to use textbooks over tablets instead of tablets over textbooks.
A
- As a future teacher it is very important to think before doing something. If someday the government and schools can afford tablets then we must accept it since it is also important to adapt in the changing nature of learning. But, we must also keep in touch with textbooks because these textbooks are very authentic and reliable plus the information’s are very clear and there is one clear source. In the future, as much as possible we must tell our students how important textbooks and tablets are so students could utilize both in a proper way.

Lesson 9- Computers as ICT

C
- This lesson uplifts the mind of the learners because it introduces us to the usage of the various softwares of the computers that we could really use in the future teaching field. In the evolution of education, the very first invention was the printing press, next to it is  the introduction of libraries and the third and latest is the invention of computers. Computers as ICT will be a very great deal to both the teachers and the students.
E
- Even the old generations are being exposed and involving to the technology world, basically with the computers. They enjoyed using it, and the new generation learners feel the same way as well. The implication is that by using computers we can do many things at one time. We can research, we can send messages, we can do business and anything that the computers are catering. With this, students can also do assignments are projects easily in a way that they could enjoy it.
R
- The use of technology is not really a hindrance, though there are negative effects of using it but in the educational concern it is of great help. Aiding the need of the learners is now possible because computers are easy to access and learners can avail to use it anywhere and everywhere.
A
- The lesson just justified that in computers we can do many things. We need to use it because it is a source of information and the digital learners are really needing it.

Lesson 8- Higher Thinking Skills through IT-Based Projects

C
-This lesson introduces us particularly to the four IT-Based projects which promotes higher thinking skills. These are the resource-based projects, simple creations, guided hypermedia projects and web-based projects. These are very sophisticated and are very directed to the new technology learners which are very creative and are very addicted to the technology world. The learners are very attached to the world they feel comfortable and so, we must motivate them by using the things that are available in the network.
E
- These IT-based projects are the ones we are using now. Students are exposed to the internet through Edmodo, ToonDo, Rubistar, etc. which the old generation learners find it very time consuming. Yet, the young generations are very in touched with it, they are very alive when using it. Thus, these projects or called as activities helps them improve their higher thinking skills and could really promote creativity in every students.
R
- The goal of using these things is to make the students be involve in the world of technology. As future teachers we must also be considerate of our learners. They need this, we also need this. It is not that we will always use this but to the least that they will enjoy what they are doing. This means that up to our might we are bringing them to the world they deserve.
A
- As to the application of this, as users also of this IT-based projects we are realizing that we had enjoyed being with it. The young generations are of thirst with it so we should really try using these to make a healthy environment to our students.

Lesson 7- Evaluation of Technology Learning

C
-Evaluation of technology learning talks about the change of evaluation and assessment approach that the teachers must use in the teaching and learning process. It has been said that the standard paper tests must change as the generation change. Assessments need to conform, not on the literacy of the past centuries but the new literacy of the 21st century. In order to acquire this, we need the hep of the new basic digital skills which we could use in the making of projects, assignments, etc.
E
- As education students, we are taught on how to properly assess and evaluate our students. We also are introduced to traditional and the authentic assessment and evaluation approaches. The traditional uses the common paper and pencil testing while the latter is more on a performance-based approach. The educators prefer the latter because it is what the new generation learners need and want.
R
- Traditional way of assessment and evaluation are not necessarily to diminished but rather to just use it when the nature calls for it. In the teaching and learning process, there is no one approach perfect in catering the diversity of the students. That is why we need to alter the things that we use in teaching depending on the purpose.
A
- In the future teaching field, the application of this lesson is very important as to the fact that assessment and evaluation are salient part of the teaching and learning process. We must use the traditional and authentic way of evaluating and assessing appropriately. We must not stick to only one approach. Always remember that teachers are creative.

Lesson 6- Developing Basic Digital Skills

C
- New generation learners are more attracted to internet works, they become fully alive when these matters are given emphasis. The basic digital skills (solution fluency, information fluency, collaborative fluency, media fluency, creativity fluency and digital ethics) are the skills that the students must develop in order for them to be competitive. These skills must be given emphasis and we should integrate these in the outputs that the students will do if told.
E
- These skills are great influence not only to the new generation learners but as well to me. The basic example is my making of a blogpost. My teacher integrate technology in our learning and he is enhancing our creativity fluency. In the past semesters also, we are able to produce our own brochures, videos, advertisement, etc. that are very challenging and very enjoyable. These things can also be taught to the new generation learners, just basically with the use of microsoft office and anything that is in range. In this way the teachers will be able to make their students be discovery learners.
R
- I saw how the technology influenced skills that had not been discovered in the past generations. These skills might particularly be the key for our own improvements. The digital learners are needing teachers that will integrate teaching with technology.
A
- Simply, in order to get the attention of the students we must be able to help them enhance the basic digital skills. As future teachers we must also be creative. These skills are of great help in letting them pass their assignments. These skills also promotes higher thinking skills. Although the use of  technology is time consuming sometimes but still these are what the students need. A great teacher always finds way to make his/her students improve.

Lesson 5- Preferences of Technology Learners

C
-This lesson opens the mind of the old generation and the new generation learners towards the learning process. We all know that the old generation's way of learning is not practice in today's learning. Perhaps, the new generation learners are termed as "digital learners", as much as possible they are internet and media addict. This lesson compares briefly the old and new generation learners way of learning.
E
- I have experienced going to the library and borrow books, teachers post visual aids, we are also independent, we are also told by our teachers to study well to past exams and tests. As years pass, the technology is little by little approach us, I have greatly seen that the lessons which in the past can only be found in the books can be searched in the internet. The students are learning in groups and online educational games are given instant grade which are very motivating. This way of learning is fun though the past learners sometimes argue that this is not very practical.
R
- I just reflected that in order to be an effective teacher, we must really do things that can satisfy their needs. They are digital learners in nature and the things that they should be needing are involving the use of technology. We are the ones to help them.
A
- To sum it up, we, the future teachers must be of great deal to how we should negotiate with our clients. We are given preferences that serve as guide and we should follow it. To be an effective teacher we must understand our students and we should connect to them as possible. We must help them to become aware of their potentials and to make it more stronger for them to use it sooner.

Lesson 4- Bridging the Generation Gap

C

There is really a change in every dimension. Older generations might feel that this must be something wrong. The world is turning, as time turns too. Young generation prefer to relay communication through technology which is very efficient because it makes life faster. Furthermore, it is not always that we must stick to what was in the past, we must move on in order to survive.

E

Sometimes I always complain on how young people act. But if I would not accept the change then I would be considered as old fashioned thing.

R

It is really important to accept the changes technology had brought. On the lighter hand, without technology development is slowly moving.

A

From what I have learned, I should accept what is now. As a future teacher, I must adopt the things that are so natural to see. Because at the end of the day, what matters most is not the technology itself, it is the things you have learned through the use of technology.

Educational Technology History and ICT

C

This lesson entails the history not only of computers but other technology in general. The lesson also introduced the advantages and disadvantages. Despite of the disadvantages, the lesson open the minds of the future educators on how to use these technology tools properly.

E

With the help of every technology we have today, I have been using it; especially the internet. I can easily access whenever I WANT. However, these is temporary. I'm minimizing the things I do with the technologies because though helpful I'm refraining from being addicted to it.

R

All I could reflect is that, no computers can really replace the role of teachers. And, I also reflected that technology is different in our times. In connection to this, as a future teacher I also realized that maybe it is about time to not compare what we have in our times and in the times of my future clients.  I must adapt to what they have now.

A

I really appreciate the benefits that technology had given to us. In the mean time, I will really use these technology tools to help my future students to be mind and body ready. Though hard to conceptualize but I will really ensure that they will have a bright future with my help and the help of technology.

Lesson 3- Understanding Technology Learners

C
Young people’s generation are very attracted to the newest gadgets. They just don't want paper works all the time, they want something new, they want to experience doing their own using technology. This lesson teaches us, the future teacher to adapt the learning environments of the learner. The learners in this new era is very different from our learning style yesterday. The reporters of this lesson also introduce us to the softwares and applications that we could utilize to make our future learners who are very active to have a very interactive and cooperative learning environment with the help of technology as well.

E

We can't compare the youth as to what they behave in school, the aftermath of minding them could just be stress. Well, it is really wonderful to let the young students explore in their own, they might have something in mind that could be useful. Teachers are the guides and we must support every student. Also, with the help of the softwares and applications students might as well be active in passing their assignments. I also have experience passing assignments through Edmodo and blogspot and also making assignments such as comics strip through the use toondo and it is really wonderful and enjoying. Only that some of my classmate cannot easily access because they don’t have any means in their community.

R

I could just reflect on how teaching and learning could be boring if the teachers are just using the traditional way of teaching. It is very outmoded and I want my students to learn and at the same time ENJOY. Especially, I could just point out that outcomes-based education is of a great deal today. Although very hard because I sometimes don’t know how to manipulate computer but at least my students who are technology learners can use technology to ease what they don’t know when I’m not in their side.

A

There are instances which the student may behave differently because he is bored about the lesson. All I have to do is to apply what I learn, to understand them as far as I could do. I believe that technology does really help me and my future students as well so I will use what trend is in to make the students more active and to help them also become a competitive one.

Lesson 2- An Overview: Educational Technology 2

C

EdTech2 concentrates on "integrating technology into teaching and learning" this means that as far as possible technology must have a role in the process. This course aim not to let their students be computer skilled rather to make the students feel how to use technology so they could apply it in their future teaching career.
E

I had experience the feeling on doing your own matters, and its very enjoyable. I can study on my own and I could make my own also. This is what we called experiential learning.
R

I believe that every teacher must adapt the rapid world. The success of the students is in the hands of every teacher. I believe that when a teacher knows hoe to use technology responsibly then he/she will be recognized by the students.
A

On the other way around, I'll be enjoying every hands on activity that our instructor tell us to make so in the future teaching arena I will be fully equipped with all the learning's and could integrate technology in my subject.

Lesson 1- A review of Educational Technology 1

C
Technology is really an ease to each human. imagine how things were made possible by the help of technology. Sometimes, others are overusing it that it could cause addiction to very bad sites. But, with the help of EdTech where students were taught how to use technology then there is a possibility that the issues regarding the disadvantages of the technology may lessen.
E
Educational Technology doesn't require you to be any of the IT professionals; it's just to be you. EdTech 1 helped me become a better one. I have made my own photoshopped photo and even amazing powerpoints.
R
Thus, the theories that had been taught played a great role in becoming what I am today. I could just reflect on how technology moved the teaching and learning process far better than the past eras.
A

As a future educator, I will really do my best to use technology in its minimal as far as I could. Integrating technology in learning is good but we should also remember its limitations.
